Sometimes, the simplest tools are the ones that we use the most! We’re just getting back into the swing of things this week and you may find you want to introduce this tool into your classroom routine!
Random Name Picker is a new tool from Russel Tarr at Schools.net. This tool allows you to input names and spin a virtual wheel to have a name randomly selected from the list. One of the best features of this simple tool is that you can then remove the chosen name from the list so that student doesn’t get picked again! Often times, we have the same students raise their hand to answer….and sometimes no one raises their hand! This tool will help make sure every student gets an opportunity to share!
Let’s broaden this tool to include the list below and not just student names! You may find yourself using it more than you had originally thought.
List of Ideas
Choosing Members of a Group
Choosing Group Roles
Special Classroom Helpers – Line Leader, etc.
AR Prizes or Classroom Prize Winners
The Random Name Picker is free to use and does not require a registration. You can save your lists by assigning passwords to them and you can re-use your saved lists. It also works on iPads! So, try out this convenient tool in your room today and let us know other ways you’ve used it!
